Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paul VanSchool!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Miguel Hernandez!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
VanSchool tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hernandez swats him away and circles back towards the center.
VanSchool checks a low kick from Hernandez.
VanSchool misses with a jab, cross combination.
VanSchool jabs Hernandez to the body, keeping him at a distance.
VanSchool throws a leg kick but Hernandez moved away.
VanSchool takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
VanSchool works Hernandez's body with a nice hook.
Hernandez misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from VanSchool.
Nice defenses there by VanSchool.
VanSchool fails to land the takedown.
Hernandez takes a swing at VanSchool's ribcage but misses.

VanSchool shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Hernandez's guard.

Hernandez pulls VanSchool in to control the position.
VanSchool wants to control from the top but Hernandez keeps moving.
Hernandez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Hernandez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. VanSchool gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Hernandez had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. VanSchool defends it easily.

VanSchool wants to pass the guard but Hernandez is keeping the position.
VanSchool is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
VanSchool trying to control but Hernandez is working from the bottom.
Hernandez looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Hernandez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but VanSchool can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

VanSchool is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hernandez is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hernandez has escaped and now he's on top!

Hernandez slips nicely into half guard.
Hernandez wants to take a breather but VanSchool is having none of it.
Hernandez content to control rather than advance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hernandez is trying to control the action in half guard but VanSchool is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Well, if Hernandez is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

VanSchool tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Hernandez manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Hernandez throws an overhand right that lands on VanSchool's shoulder, as VanSchool tries to avoid the shot.
Hernandez tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. VanSchool manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
VanSchool wants to slow Hernandez down by chopping away at his legs.
Hernandez will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

VanSchool shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Hernandez eats them both and turns towards VanSchool to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Hernandez throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Paul VanSchool seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hernandez tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Horrible takedown by Hernandez or perhaps it was just good defense by VanSchool which made him look bad.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for VanSchool, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
