The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monster fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Overeem on the side of the head.

It looks like Alistair Overeem has been cut.
Monster lands a front kick.
Overeem wants to clinch.
Overeem avoids the head kick by Monster.

Monster has Overeem up against the cage in a clinch.
Overeem throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Monster blocks it with crossed arms.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Overeem throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Monster has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Overeem regains guard immediately.

Monster is looking to work some ground and pound but Overeem has wrist control.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Monster manages to break the clinch.

Monster lands a big head kick that sends Overeem tumbling to the mat! Monster takes a step backwards and waves Overeem back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Monster forces Overeem back against the cage and clinches.
Overeem is looking to control Monster's arms but Monster gets an underhook and turns him. Now Overeem has his back to the cage.
Monster lands a good knee to the midsection. Overeem won't want to take too many of those.
Monster lands a body shot in the clinch.

Monster's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Monster cracks Overeem with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Monster has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Overeem to stand back up!

Overeem is rocked!

Alistair Overeem 's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.

Overeem gets tackled into the cage by Monster. Monster maintains the clinch.
Oh Overeem is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Monster avoids a wild elbow strike from Overeem .
Overeem wants to stall.
Overeem seems to have got his legs back now.
Monster stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Monster breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Monster drops Overeem with a beautiful combination! Overeem stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Monster is looking for the KO!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Monster flashes Overeem a smile before throwing a beast of a right hand, straight down the pipe. Overeem 's eyes follow the hand right onto his nose, taking in it's full glory... and then darkness. Overeem crumples to the floor! He's out cold! Monster punches the air and yells at the top of his lungs - yeeeeeeeeeeah!!!! This one is all over!
