The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hayes will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Hayes checks the leg kick.
Johnson takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Johnson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Hayes sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Johnson somewhat.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hayes as he avoids it easily.
Decent striking displayed by Hayes there.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Johnson is defended easily by Hayes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anthony Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The crowd cheers as Hayes lands an impressive looking overhand right. Johnson doesn't seem phased though.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hayes lands a really nice looking cross but Johnson seems unphased.

Johnson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hayes pinned against the cage. Hayes gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Hayes bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Johnson! He dives into his guard looking to finish!
Oh Johnson is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
