Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Enrique Mendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy Crack Corn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Mendez might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Juno Reactor - Pistolero. Crack Corn has chosen Jimmy cracks heads and he dont care as his entrance music. Enrique Mendez could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Jimmy Crack Corn's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Enrique Mendez!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jimmy Crack Corn!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Bruno Hogan and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendez stuffs the takedown.
Mendez swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Mendez misses with a wild body shot.
Crack Corn dodges the punch combination from Mendez.
Mendez will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Crack Corn throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mendez was covering up waiting for the punch and Crack Corn finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Mendez seems keen to control Crack Corn's posture.
Crack Corn working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Crack Corn is in close to Mendez's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Mendez is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Crack Corn tries to free his leg and advance position but Mendez is retaining full guard.

Mendez pushes Crack Corn off and gets back to his feet.
Mendez throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

and Crack Corn counters with a right hand to the body.
Crack Corn keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Mendez.

Crack Corn moves away from the strike by Mendez.

so Crack Corn counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Crack Corn won't allow Mendez to get back to his feet.
Mendez managing to control the position.
Crack Corn working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Crack Corn lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Crack Corn has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Crack Corn won't allow Mendez to get back to his feet.
Crack Corn stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mendez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Crack Corn slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Crack Corn not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Mendez looks like he's trying to stand up.

Crack Corn wants to control from the top but Mendez keeps moving.
Crack Corn with a flurry of punches that miss.

Mendez manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Crack Corn manages to get himself to full guard.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Mendez engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Enrique Mendez has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
A slow jab from Mendez misses its intended target.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mendez throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Crack Corn.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jimmy Crack Corn will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Mendez lands with a right hand.
Mendez stuffs the takedown attempt from Crack Corn. Crack Corn gets slowly back to his feet.
Mendez fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Mendez throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Crack Corn misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Mendez clinches up with Crack Corn and pushes him back against the cage.
Mendez is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Crack Corn is keeping busy.
Crack Corn is working for takedown but Mendez is calmly controlling the position for now.
Enrique Mendez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jimmy Crack Corn.
Crack Corn has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Mendez avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Mendez's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Crack Corn wants a takedown but no success here.

Mendez lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Mendez misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Mendez stalling.
Mendez takes a knee to the side of the body.
Mendez stops a takedown attempt from Crack Corn.
Mendez makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Mendez looking to stall.
Mendez lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Mendez gets underhooks to prevent Crack Corn's takedown attempt.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Crack Corn is trying to drag Mendez to the mat but Mendez just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Mendez is pressed up against the cage. Crack Corn has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Mendez down to the mat. Mendez avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

A jab lands there for Mendez.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Crack Corn misses with an uppercut. Mendez saw that one coming.
Enrique Mendez is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Sloppy strikes from Mendez. Those never looked like landing.
Crack Corn walks into a straight right hand from Mendez.
Crack Corn fails to land the takedown.

Mendez drives through and clinches with Crack Corn against the cage.

Crack Corn pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Mendez connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Enrique Mendez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mendez is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Crack Corn.

Mendez instigates a clinch.
Crack Corn goes for a takedown attempt but Mendez pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Oooooh!!! Mendez has knocked Crack Corn down with a huge combo! Mendez steps away and waves a wobbly Crack Corn back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!


Crack Corn is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Mendez connects with a superb combination that knocks Crack Corn out cold! The referee charges across the mat and tackles Mendez before he can land any more shots to the unconscious Crack Corn!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Enrique Mendez!

An out of breath Enrique Mendez thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
