The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Atreides fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Mahaffey, pushing him back against the cage.
Mahaffey looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Atreides gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Atreides with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Atreides working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Mahaffey really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Atreides. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Atreides lands a nice short elbow.
Mahaffey is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Mahaffey is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Atreides scores with a couple of nice shots.
Atreides landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Atreides decides to stand up.
Atreides shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mahaffey pinned against the cage. Mahaffey gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Atreides shoots in for a double leg but Mahaffey sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Atreides looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Mahaffey!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mahaffey is rocked!

Atreides working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Mahaffey turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Atreides off and cradles Mahaffey's limp body as Atreides celebrates with his corner.
