PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Eduardo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Dameshek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Eduardo's entrance music is Numb. A fine choice. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 2, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Carlos Eduardo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dave Dameshek!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Mauricio Rocha and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dameshek fails in his attempt to clinch.

and Dameshek counters with a shoot takedown. Eduardo fights it but they end up in guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Dameshek fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Eduardo avoids it really well and circles away.

Dameshek throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Eduardo was covering up waiting for the punch and Dameshek finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Dameshek is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Eduardo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dameshek on the ground.

Eduardo throws a hook to the side of Dameshek's head but Dameshek sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Dameshek takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Eduardo is looking to clinch but Dameshek is avoiding it.

Dameshek drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Eduardo gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Dameshek has hold of one of Eduardo's legs. Eduardo is fighting the takedown attempt but Dameshek gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Dameshek not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Eduardo wants to stand and escape but Dameshek is having none of it.
Dameshek controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Dameshek won't allow Eduardo to get back to his feet.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Dameshek darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Dameshek takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Dameshek wants to lay and pray for a moment but Eduardo keeps working.
Dameshek is stalling here. Eduardo is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Dameshek seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Eduardo has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Dameshek is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Dameshek wants to control but Eduardo postures up.

Eduardo has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Dameshek is working to get back to half guard.
Dameshek is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Dameshek tries to reverse the position but Eduardo maintains control.
Eduardo looking to control but Dameshek is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Dameshek manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Dameshek is trying to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dave Dameshek showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


The fight stays on the outside here - Dameshek looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Dameshek changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Eduardo tries to avoid it but Dameshek manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Eduardo to the ground. Eduardo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Dameshek walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Eduardo checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Eduardo wants to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dameshek will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Dameshek dodges the punch combination from Eduardo.
Eduardo moves in looking to clinch but Dameshek pushes him off.
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Eduardo! Dameshek is out on his feet! Eduardo rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Dameshek is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Dameshek is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:32 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Carlos Eduardo!
A very excited looking Carlos Eduardo rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
