PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jonny Do (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fedor Lesnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Lesnar's choice of entrance music: Enae Volare Mezzo. Fedor Lesnar will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jonny Do!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 21 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Fedor Lesnar!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lesnar dives in and grabs Do's left leg, looking for a takedown. Do pushes down on Lesnar's head and hops out.
Lesnar moves away from the strike by Do.

Lesnar bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Lesnar trying to control the position but Do is working away.
Lesnar looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Do is avoiding damage well.
Lesnar has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Lesnar throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Lesnar postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Lesnar trying to control the position but Do is working away.
Do regains half guard, as Lesnar was trying to land strikes.

Lesnar trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Lesnar drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Do manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Lesnar has Do in his guard.

Lesnar working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Do doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Do manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Do stands up over Lesnar, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Do got a little sloppy there for a moment and Lesnar has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Do has managed to get both his arms back between Lesnar's legs - danger averted.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Do with a nice head shot there.
Do might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Lesnar controls Do momentarily but Do frees himself.
Do postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Do lands a couple of decent looking shots.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Do accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Do is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Do working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Do postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Lesnar wants to sweep but no luck.
Do trying to control the position from guard on top but Lesnar is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Lesnar has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Lesnar is trying to keep Do in close.

Lesnar escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Do gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lesnar is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Do postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Lesnar looking for a sweep. Not yet Lesnar, not yet.
Do trying to control but Lesnar is working from the bottom.

Lesnar is looking for a triangle but Do pushes his legs off easily.
Lesnar punching from the bottom.
Lesnar avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Do with a flurry of punches that miss.
Do trying to control the position from guard on top but Lesnar is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Lesnar is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Do is aware though and is defending well.
Do tries to free his leg and advance position but Lesnar is retaining full guard.
Do is looking to work some ground and pound but Lesnar has wrist control.
Lesnar is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Do wants to control from the top but Lesnar keeps moving.
Do trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Do won't allow Lesnar to sweep him here.

Do missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Do scoring with some ground and pound.

Lesnar is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Do defends well.

Lesnar escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Do gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Lesnar wants to control but Do passes easily into half guard.
Lesnar gets full guard.

Lesnar isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Do stacks Lesnar on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Do!
Do trying to control the position but Lesnar is working away.
Lesnar is looking for a sweep.
Do working the head with strikes.
Lesnar takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Lesnar is not in a great position here, taking some shots.


Lesnar is rocked!
Lesnar manages to work his way to half guard, despite Do's best efforts.
Lesnar is still in real trouble! Can Do finish him?

Lesnar wants to improve his position but Do is controlling well.
Lesnar seems to have recovered his senses.
Do lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Do landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Lesnar actively working from the bottom here.
Lesnar looks winded!
Do not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Do lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Lesnar quite badly. Lesnar pulls Do in close trying to recover. Do postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Lesnar on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Lesnar doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 6:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jonny Do!
Jonny Do spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
