Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Makosi Karolczak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juninho Verissimo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Makosi Karolczak!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Juninho Verissimo!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Felipe Paraventi and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Verissimo swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Verissimo looks to clinch

so Karolczak counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Karolczak really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Verissimo looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Verissimo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Verissimo looking to control but Karolczak passes into half guard.
Verissimo wants to improve his position but Karolczak is controlling well.

Verissimo has a hand on Karolczak's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Karolczak takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Verissimo can't escape the position.
Karolczak will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Verissimo tries to lock up and control but Karolczak gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Verissimo is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Verissimo sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Karolczak is taking a breather. Verissimo says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Makosi Karolczak just wasn't active enough.
Karolczak uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Verissimo.
Juninho Verissimo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Verissimo pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Karolczak gets a takedown into half guard.

Karolczak keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Karolczak stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Karolczak shoots in and drives through. Verissimo sprawls well.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Verissimo.

Karolczak scores a takedown into full mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Makosi Karolczak dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Verissimo misses with a takedown attempt

and Karolczak counters with a nice double leg into side control. Verissimo won't be happy with that.
Verissimo is trying to get back to his feet.
Karolczak is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Verissimo is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Karolczak is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Karolczak takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Verissimo tries to reverse the position but Karolczak maintains control.

Verissimo is trying to escape the mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Verissimo tries to lock up and control but Karolczak gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
A head kick misses from Verissimo.

Verissimo tries to sprawl but Karolczak drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Verissimo trying to hold on to Karolczak's head to control him but Karolczak postures up.
Verissimo is breathing heavily.
Verissimo holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Verissimo wants to get back to full guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Karolczak takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Makosi Karolczak wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Verissimo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Karolczak is fending him off so far but Verissimo persists. Nope, Karolczak circles away and we're back to standing.

and Karolczak counters with a nice double leg into side control. Verissimo won't be happy with that.
Makosi Karolczak has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Juninho Verissimo.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Verissimo throws a combination that misses

and Karolczak counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Verissimo!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Verissimo is looking to improve his position but Karolczak isn't that keen on the idea.
Karolczak content just to control the position here.
Verissimo is trying desperately to improve position.
Karolczak controlling the pace for now.

Verissimo looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Karolczak is riding his opponent, not letting Verissimo buck him off.

Karolczak working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Verissimo is doing well to defend. Karolczak seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Verissimo is forced to tap and this one is over!
