Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steve Tompkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gilles Gerard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tompkins comes to the cage accompanied by Dying Fetus - One Shot, One Kill. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gerard misses with a series of wild punches.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gerard accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Gerard stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tompkins swivels though and keeps the full guard.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Gerard is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Tompkins.
Gerard darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Gerard lands a right hook to the body.
Sloppy strikes from Gerard. Those never looked like landing.
Gerard ducks under a wild hook from Tompkins.
Jab, jab by Tompkins - just one landing.
Tompkins takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Tompkins keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Tompkins shoots in looking for a takedown but Gerard manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Tompkins's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Tompkins blocks a jab.
Tompkins moves in looking to clinch but Gerard pushes him off.
Gerard's corner calls for a 1-2. Gerard obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Tompkins takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Gerard stuffs the takedown attempt from Tompkins. Tompkins gets slowly back to his feet.
Tompkins changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Gerard is breathing heavily.

Tompkins shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steve Tompkins. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gerard dodges the punch combination from Tompkins.
Gerard fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Tompkins checks it well.
Tompkins tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Gerard manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Gerard throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Tompkins keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

Tompkins gets a double leg takedown into Gerard's guard.
Tompkins will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gerard is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Tompkins got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gerard has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Tompkins has managed to get both his arms back between Gerard's legs - danger averted.
Tompkins keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Gerard's head.

Gerard is rocked!
Tompkins is working Gerard over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Gerard is still in real trouble! Can Tompkins finish him?
Tompkins controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
