Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Renato King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jo Jo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). King comes to the cage accompanied by Supreme court hymn. The crowd seem to be enjoying Jo's choice of entrance music: Set You Free. Jo Jo has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Renato King!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jo Jo!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice uppercut lands for King. That snapped Jo's head back.
A looping hook to the body misses from King. Jo does a little dance to reset his feet.
Jo fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
King ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Jo takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
King stuffs the takedown attempt from Jo. Jo gets slowly back to his feet.
King pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
King thows a body shot but no joy.
King stuffs the takedown attempt from Jo. Jo gets slowly back to his feet.
King throws a lazy right hand but Jo sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Donk. King catches Jo right on the button with a cross.

Jo keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
King misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Jo.
King fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Jo looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
King scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
King swings for the body but Jo moves out of range.
King tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Jo was well out of range. Poor timing from King.
A jab from King does it's job there.
Jo shoots and misses
and King counters with a nice uppercut.
Renato King has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jo Jo.
Jo fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
King moves into range and connects with a jab.

Jo shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
King slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

King lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Jo!

King goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Jo turns into him and now he's in King's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

King is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Jo is aware though and is defending well.

Jo is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

King has momentary wrist control but Jo slips an elbow through the middle.
Jo wants to control from the top but King keeps moving.
Jo throws an elbow that misses. King uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Jo's guard. Nice move by King!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
King trying to move into half guard but instead Jo has managed to sweep!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
King is trying to control the position but Jo postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Renato King will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


King swings and misses with a hook to the body.
King ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
King scores with the left hand. Jo knows he should have avoided that one.

Jo closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into King's guard.
King wants to sweep but no luck.
Jo tries to free his leg and advance position but King is retaining full guard.

Jo wants to pass the guard but King is keeping the position.
Jo's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Jo Jo has got the better of the ground game so far.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jo accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

King closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Jo manages to work his way to half guard, despite King's best efforts.

Jo is looking for a triangle but King pushes his legs off easily.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
King looking to sit in guard and control but Jo gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Jo postures up.

Jo got a little sloppy there for a moment and King has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jo has managed to get both his arms back between King's legs - danger averted.
Jo is pushing down on King's leg trying to pass to half guard. King is fighting to maintain full guard but Jo has managed to sneak the leg through.

Jo is looking for a kimura but King is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Jo to get the leverage.
Jo is stalling here. King is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Jo seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and King has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

King is looking to take a break and control but Jo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Jo is trying to get back to half guard.
King creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
King wants to control but Jo is keeping him busy.
King with the ground and pound but Jo regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Renato King dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Jo uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by King.
King lands a body shot.
Jo throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around King's waist but King gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jo off to one side.

and King cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Renato King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jo is trying hard to land a takedown here. King sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Renato King has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jo Jo.

Jo drives through with a takedown into King's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
King pulls Jo in close to his closed guard and prevents Jo from doing any damage or advancing position.

King will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Jo takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
King keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Jo's head.

King is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
King is in close to Jo's body, working some short punches and elbows.
King throws a big right hand that misses.

Jo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. King gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Jo had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. King defends it easily.
King missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

King postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Jo is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of King, into his guard.
Jo is looking to advance position but King has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
King lands a big shot there that rocks Jo but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
King with the ground and pound from mount.
Jo is trying to stand.
Jo tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Jo is in a horrible position here. King smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
King scoring with strikes but Jo is staying in there.
King controlling his opponent.
King connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Jo regains half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
King not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Jo Jo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
King blocks the strikes from Jo.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. King lands a nice short elbow.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
King seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Renato King is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

And that's the end of the fight!
Renato King showed his dominance in that final round.
Well King has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
