PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jesper Rush (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Polski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rush comes into the arena with Tom Sawyer - Rush blaring out of the sound system. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 17 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Jesper Rush!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brian Polski!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Gregory Folan and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rush fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Polski avoids it really well and circles away.
Rush throws a nice inside leg kick.

Polski gets caught napping as Rush dives in and scores a takedown. Polski manages to retain guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Rush connects with a couple of short punches.
Polski looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rush is one step ahead there.
Polski bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rush's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Polski working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rush doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rush manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Rush drops back looking for a leg! Polski is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Polski manages to kick Rush off! Rush jumps back into Polski's guard.

Rush got a little sloppy there for a moment and Polski has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rush has managed to get both his arms back between Polski's legs - danger averted.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Rush is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Polski defends it well.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Polski shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rush but Rush pushes him off and we're back to square one.

A nice right hand lands inside from Rush.
Rush manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Rush is trying to drag Polski to the mat but Polski just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Polski is pressed up against the cage. Rush has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Polski down to the mat. Polski avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jesper Rush. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Polski shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rush as he jumps to the side.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Rush throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Polski blocks it with crossed arms.

Rush has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Polski clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Rush cracks Polski with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Polski from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.
Polski is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Rush off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

Rush looking to break Polski's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Polski remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Rush will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Rush is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Polski has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Well Rush has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Jesper Rush was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
