PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mikey Moo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ken Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mikey Moo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ken Stone!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Summer Carpenter and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moo shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Stone but Stone pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Stone shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Moo's guard.
Moo looking for a sweep. Not yet Moo, not yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Moo trying to strike off his back.
Moo wants to stand up but Stone is controlling him.
Moo controls Stone momentarily but Stone frees himself.
Stone slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Moo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Stone loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stone stays in close to Moo's body and controls the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Ken Stone.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Stone escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Moo misses with a lunging right hand

and Stone counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Moo!
Stone takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Moo wants to control but Stone is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Stone jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Moo manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Moo tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Stone wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Stone decides to take the fight back to the feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Stone takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Stone moves into range and clinches up with Moo.
Stone goes for a takedown in the clinch but Moo prevents it.

Moo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
No luck for Moo with that takedown attempt.

Stone looking to score a takedown here. Moo is defending well but Stone drives through and ends up in Moo's guard.
Moo is breathing heavily.
Moo not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Stone working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Moo's head.

Moo is working an open guard so Stone takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Stone throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Moo tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Stone is in Moo's guard.
Moo is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Stone is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Stone stands up and waves to Moo to follow him.

Stone moves into the clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Stone gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Stone is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Stone showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Stone slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ken Stone dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Moo tries to clinch but Stone moves out of range.
Sloppy strikes from Stone. Those never looked like landing.

Stone fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Moo to the ground. Stone is now in Moo's guard.
Moo lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Stone!
Stone is desperately trying to improve his position but Moo has a good base and remains in mount.
Stone is squirming around, avoiding Moo's attempts to control the action.
Stone's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Moo gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Moo rushes Stone and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Stone breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Moo throws a solid leg kick but Stone takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Moo.
Stone closes the distance looking to clinch
and Moo counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Stone drives through with a takedown into Moo's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Stone engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Moo looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Stone won't allow Moo to sweep him here.
Stone is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Stone pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Moo is keeping the position for now.

Stone stays in close to Moo's body and controls the position.

Stone lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Stone controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Stone wants to pass the guard but Moo is keeping the position.
Moo wants to stand up but Stone is controlling him.

Stone decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Moo, up you get!
Moo wants to clinch.

Stone has managed to clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Stone content to slow the pace in the clinch.
The referee calls for Moo to work.

Stone gets control of Moo's arms and successfully pulls guard. Stone will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Moo stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Stone moves into range and clinches up with Moo.

Stone breaks the clinch.
Mikey Moo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Moo fails with the takedown.
Moo drops his hands momentarily and Stone takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ken Stone showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Stone closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Moo did well to prevent Stone getting side control.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Ken Stone hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Stone closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Moo did well to prevent Stone getting side control.
Stone works his foot free and advances to mount.

Stone working for a guillotine from mount but Moo is in no mood to give up.

Moo tries to lock up and control but Stone gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Stone controlling the pace for now.
Stone manages to capitalize on a mistake by Moo to take his back!
I would not like to be Moo right now.

Stone has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Moo is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Moo is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Stone gets his way!

Stone is landing with strikes. Moo can't take much more of this.

Stone has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Moo's body.

Moo is really stuck here.

Moo is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Stone looking for the RNC.
Mikey Moo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Ken Stone is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Stone keeps control of the position as Moo tries to break free.

Ken Stone comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Stone has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
