PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wanderlei Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pete Patterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Silva comes to the cage accompanied by Sandstorm. Patterson has chosen "I'm Too Sexy" as his entrance music. Both these guys are coming into the fight with injuries so let's see if that has a bearing on the fight. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva misses with a double jab.
Patterson looks gassed!
Silva throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Patterson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Silva lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Patterson has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Patterson and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Patterson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Patterson decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Patterson has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Silva finds it's way round the side to connect with Patterson's head.
Silva uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Patterson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

That was a close round but I would say that Wanderlei Silva will probably get the nod.

Patterson steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Silva. That one must have hurt.
Patterson takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Silva will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Silva here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

We're going to have a standup here because Wanderlei Silva wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Wanderlei Silva is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Pete Patterson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Silva pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Silva gets caught napping as Patterson dives in and scores a takedown. Silva manages to retain guard.

Silva is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Patterson is controlling him.
Patterson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Patterson won't allow Silva to sweep him here.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Silva lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Patterson!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Wanderlei Silva.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Silva, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
