PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Second Chance (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arjen Robben (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Robben is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Champions Anthem. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Second Chance!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Arjen Robben!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Robben tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Chance swivels and escapes.

Robben rushes Chance and presses him up against the cage.

Chance lands a takedown into guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Robben manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Robben trying to control but Chance is having none of it.

Chance is looking to get to half guard.

Robben has control of Chance's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Chance regains control of the situation pretty easily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Chance is trying desperately to improve position.

Chance is working hard here to advance position.
Robben takes Chance's back.
I really don't envy Chance right now.
Chance is keeping busy.
Chance tries to break free.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Robben is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Chance is defending well though. Robben let's go of the attempt for now.

Robben is looking for the choke from the back position but Chance is controlling his hands well.
Chance tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Chance really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Chance regains half guard.

Chance looking for submissions off his back.

Robben passes the guard and advances to mount!

Chance tries to reverse the position but Robben maintains control.
Robben can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Chance is looking to escape.
BOOM! Robben connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Chance bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Robben wants to stand and escape but Chance is having none of it.
Chance sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Robben's guard.
Chance works his way into side control.
Robben looks gassed!
Robben is looking to reverse the position.
Robben is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Chance tries for a kimura but Robben is defending well.

Chance is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Robben knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Robben manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Chance is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Robben defends it well.

Robben moves into full guard.
Robben can't keep his opponent in guard - Chance advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Chance works his foot free and advances to mount.
Robben is looking to improve his position but Chance isn't that keen on the idea.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Robben prevents Chance from taking his back.
Robben has given up his back. Will we see Chance going for some submissions?
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Second Chance will probably get the nod.
That's time! Chance's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Robben throws the kick towards the body but Chance avoids it.

Chance drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Chance won't allow Robben to sweep him here.
Chance pushes down on Robben's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Chance is looking for a kimura but Robben is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Chance to get the leverage.
Chance wants to pass to mount but Robben is defending the position.
Chance prevents Robben from improving his position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Robben is looking to control Chance's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Robben avoid being mounted?

That's one minute gone in the round.
Robben is looking to escape.
Chance trying to mount his opponent but Robben defends it.
Chance moves into full mount! Robben won't be happy about that!
Robben wants to hold on but Chance pushes him away.
Robben regains half guard.
Robben won't allow Chance to pass to mount.
Robben is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Chance wants to pass the guard but Robben is defending well.
Robben is in trouble now - Chance has advanced to mount!
Robben keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Chance swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Second Chance!
