Martin has chosen Ain't That A Kick In The Head as his entrance music. Roy Thomas has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Isaac Martin!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yuuki Gou and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thomas misses with a two punch combination.
Martin shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Martin shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Thomas counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Thomas gets the takedown into side control.
Martin stops Thomas from passing to mount.
Thomas passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Martin!

Thomas tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Thomas has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Martin is in a horrible position here. Thomas smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Thomas controlling the pace for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Thomas has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Martin looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
What can Martin do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Thomas keeps control of the position as Martin tries to break free.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

I really don't envy Martin right now.
Thomas controlling the position well here. Martin rolled but Thomas kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Martin is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Thomas fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Martin, pushing him back against the cage.

Martin is trying to pull guard but Thomas turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Thomas is looking for a takedown.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Thomas is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Martin pulls him back up using the underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Roy Thomas. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Thomas drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Martin gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Martin drops down looking for an ankle pick but Thomas pulls his leg out and moves away.

Thomas closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Martin to the mat! Martin manages to get full guard.

Thomas lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Martin makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Martin.
Martin wants to control but Thomas passes easily into half guard.
Thomas works his foot free and advances to mount.

Thomas wants to take Martin's back here but Martin is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Martin tries to hold on but Thomas pushes him away.
Thomas manages to capitalize on a mistake by Martin to take his back!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Thomas slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Martin manages to reverse the position and now he's in Thomas's guard. Nice work there by Martin.

Thomas has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Martin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Thomas is trying to control the position but Martin postures up.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Thomas pulls Martin in close to prevent any damage.
Roy Thomas overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Roy Thomas wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Thomas gets a clinch.

Thomas pushes Martin up against the cage in a clinch.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Thomas gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Martin.

Thomas works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Thomas wants to pass the guard but Martin is keeping the position.
Thomas content to stall in guard here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Thomas decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Martin, up you get!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Roy Thomas dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Martin with a poor takedown

and Thomas counters with a takedown into side control.

You can see the frustration on Martin's face as Thomas controls the position.

Thomas stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Thomas misses the shot to the body.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Thomas.

Thomas moves into the clinch successfully.
A shot in the inside from Thomas.
Martin drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Thomas gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Martin takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Thomas jumps guard.
Thomas on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Thomas tries to get out of the position.
Martin would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Thomas has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Martin can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Thomas is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Thomas is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Martin can do to turn this around?

Thomas is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Martin sees it coming and defends easily.
Thomas content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Thomas is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Martin has managed to free his arm - good work.
Thomas passes to side control.

Thomas thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Thomas wants to control but Martin is keeping him busy.
Martin prevents Thomas from improving position.
Thomas lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Thomas is working Martin over with some ground and pound from side control.


Martin is rocked!

Thomas stands up and beckons Martin to his feet.
Martin is still on wobbly legs! Can Thomas finish him?
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Thomas looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Martin!

Martin tries to reverse the position but Thomas maintains control.

Thomas seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Martin for as long as he can get away with.
Isaac Martin has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Roy Thomas is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Thomas has control of Martin's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Martin regains control of the situation pretty easily.

And that's the end of the fight!

Well Thomas has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
