PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gully God (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Erick Villar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). God comes to the cage accompanied by Mavado - Gangsta Nuh Play. Villar has chosen Kalamidad as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Gully God has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Gully God seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gully God!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Erick Villar!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Villar moves out of range of the body kick.
A jab from God misses.
God with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
God tries to land a front kick but Villar steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Horrible takedown by Villar or perhaps it was just good defense by God which made him look bad.
God throws a jab but it's blocked by Villar.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Villar.
A bone on bone clash there as Villar blocks the leg kick.
God misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
God digs a good hook to Villar's body.
God lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Villar misses with a head kick.
Villar shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says God as he avoids it easily.
Gully God has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Erick Villar.

God has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now God is on top in guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Gully God.

God slips a jab from Villar.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
God jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Villar tries to score a power double leg takedown but God sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Villar somewhat.
Villar throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gully God dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

God connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Villar cracks God with a right hand to the side of the head.
God looks to land a right hand but Villar moved out of range.
Gully God is winning the standup battle so far.
Villar rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but God moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Villar shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. God defends it nicely.
God dodges the punch combination from Villar.
God ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
God avoids a kick to the body.

God gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Villar is fighting to break God's control of his arms but God is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
God looking to hit a scissor sweep but Villar is one step ahead there.
God is trying to keep Villar in close.
Villar throws a big elbow that misses.
Villar postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Villar throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
God is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

God can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Villar is looking to escape.

Villar wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by God.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Gully God will probably get the nod.
That's time! God's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

God fakes the body blow, causing Villar to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Villar goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!

An out of breath Gully God thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
