Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Holy Diver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luiz Lindland (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Diver might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Holy Diver by Dio. Luiz Lindland has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Holy Diver!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Luiz Lindland!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Tarja Halkonen and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Diver closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Lindland to the mat! Lindland manages to get full guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Diver trying to control the position from guard on top but Lindland is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Diver throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Lindland preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Lindland has Diver pulled in close to control his posture.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Lindland keeps the fight on the outside.
Diver drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Diver takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Diver shoots in but Lindland avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Diver misses with a takedown
and Lindland counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Lindland tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Diver was well out of range. Poor timing from Lindland.
Lindland comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Lindland connects with a right hand. Diver shakes it off.
Lindland lands a body shot.
Diver needs to keep his hands up - Lindland had a free shot at his head there.


It looks like Holy Diver has been cut.
Nice sprawl there from Lindland as Diver shoots in.

A looping hook to the body misses from Lindland. Diver does a little dance to reset his feet.

Diver doesn't manage to clinch there - Lindland circles away.
Diver fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Diver shoots in and drives through. Lindland sprawls well.

Diver closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Lindland's guard.
Lindland manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Diver on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Diver tries to get out of the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Diver tries to hold on but Lindland postures up.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Luiz Lindland.
Diver takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Lindland misses with a series of wild punches.
Horrible takedown by Diver or perhaps it was just good defense by Lindland which made him look bad.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lindland connects with a jab.
Lindland stuffs the takedown attempt from Diver. Diver gets slowly back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Diver has his takedown stuffed
and Lindland connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Holy Diver is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Diver looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Lindland is fending him off so far but Diver persists. Nope, Lindland circles away and we're back to standing.
Diver throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Lindland's waist but Lindland gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Diver off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Holy Diver. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Diver shoots in looking for a takedown. Lindland tries to sprawl out of it but Diver keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lindland manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Diver walks into a stiff left hand from Lindland.
Holy Diver seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Diver tries to clinch up but Lindland circles away and keeps his distance.
Lindland scores with a hook to the body. Diver takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Diver shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lindland as he jumps to the side.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lindland lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Diver is defended easily by Lindland.
Diver shoots in looking for a takedown. Lindland tries to sprawl out of it but Diver keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lindland manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Diver uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Lindland.

Diver dives in and grabs Lindland's left leg, looking for a takedown. Lindland pushes down on Diver's head and hops out.
Lindland throws a right hand that Diver ducks under and follows up with a left that Diver also avoids with ease.

Diver moves in looking to clinch but Lindland pushes him off.

Diver shoots in and drives through. Lindland sprawls well.

and Lindland counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Lindland is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Diver throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Lindland tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Diver is in Lindland's guard.
Lindland wants to get back to his feet but Diver is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Diver stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lindland swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Diver postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Diver might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Lindland is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Lindland looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Lindland stands up and beckons Diver to join him on the feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Diver shoots for a takedown but Lindland saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Diver closes the distance and clinches up with Lindland, looking for a takedown. Diver pushes Lindland against the cage but Lindland circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lindland feints a jab promting Diver to slip. Lindland then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Diver slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Luiz Lindland showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Diver takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Diver moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Lindland drops Diver with a left right combo! Lindland follows him down to the ground into side control.

Lindland controls the position.
Oh Diver is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Lindland has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Diver is looking to regain half guard here but Lindland keeps moving and retains side control.
Diver seems to have got his legs back now.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Luiz Lindland was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Luiz Lindland is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Diver looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

Diver closes the distance and clinches up with Lindland, looking for a takedown. Diver pushes Lindland against the cage but Lindland circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Lindland ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Diver shoots for a double leg takedown but Lindland sprawls well. He's pushed Diver's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Diver is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Lindland.

Lindland scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Diver doesn't seem bothered though.
Lindland bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Diver's head backwards.
Lindland connects with a body shot that sends Diver's belly button to the back.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A lazy left from Lindland finds it's target.
Lindland lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Lindland scores with a hook to the body. Diver takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Lindland scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Lindland changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Lindland sizes up Diver with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Diver doesn't manage to clinch there - Lindland circles away.
Diver shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Lindland counters with a series of strikes. Diver will be more careful next time no doubt.

Luiz Lindland comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Lindland has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
