Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Burgess Meredith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Indiana Jones!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Daniel Franklin and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meredith keeps the fight on the outside.
Meredith defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Jones.

Jones gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Meredith prevents Jones from getting back to his feet.
Meredith trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Meredith wants to pass the guard but Jones is keeping the position.
Meredith wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving.

Jones looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Meredith is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Jones really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Meredith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

We're going to have a standup here because Burgess Meredith wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jones looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Meredith shoots in and gets a takedown into Jones's guard.

Meredith throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jones works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Jones working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Meredith.
Jones is trying to keep Meredith in close.

Meredith trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Jones controls Meredith momentarily but Meredith frees himself.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Meredith fails with a takedown attempt.
Jones doesn't manage to clinch there - Meredith circles away.

Meredith has managed to clinch.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Meredith has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Jones uses from the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones is fighting to break Meredith's control of his arms but Meredith is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Jones prevents Meredith from getting back to his feet.
Meredith looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Meredith being controlled here, momentarily.
Jones wants to control from the top but Meredith keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Indiana Jones hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Meredith throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Jones was covering up waiting for the punch and Meredith finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Jones preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Meredith in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Meredith pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Jones is keeping the position for now.

Jones working for a triangle but Meredith defends it easily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Meredith wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Burgess Meredith dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Meredith rushes Jones and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Meredith pulls Jones into guard.
Meredith is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jones is controlling him.
Meredith lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Jones!
Meredith is landing with some decent strikes but Jones is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Jones defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Meredith.
Jones is wriggling around trying to escape.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Meredith trying to control but Jones is having none of it.
Meredith thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Meredith can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jones is looking to escape.
Jones wants to hold on but Meredith pushes him away.
Meredith tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Meredith avoids the attempt from Jones to control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Meredith looking to control and managing it successfully.

Meredith jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Jones manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Jones trying his best to control but Meredith has mounted him.
Meredith lands a big shot there that rocks Jones but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.


It looks like Indiana Jones has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Meredith throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Jones tries to control Meredith's body but Meredith pushes him off. Jones squirms to his side and now Meredith has his back!

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Meredith is persistently looking for the submission but Jones is defending it well.

Meredith is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! Jones is tapping out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Burgess Meredith!
