Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matt Hodson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hamid Karzai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hodson comes to the cage accompanied by Break Some Off by KoRn. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Matt Hodson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hamid Karzai!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Hugh Johnson and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karzai dives in and grabs Hodson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hodson pushes down on Karzai's head and hops out.
Hodson misses with the combination.

Hodson misses the jab.
Karzai fails with an attempt to clinch.
Hodson misses with a wild body shot.
Hodson throws a looping overhand right but Karzai ducks down to avoid it.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Karzai.
Hodson throws a chopping leg kick but Karzai manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Karzai throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hodson was covering up waiting for the punch and Karzai finishes the takedown easily into guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Karzai decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Karzai pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Nice takedown defense from Hodson. No joy for Karzai on that attempt.
Matt Hodson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hamid Karzai.
Karzai is looking to clinch but Hodson is avoiding it.
Karzai uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hodson.

and Hodson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
A looping hook to the body misses from Hodson. Karzai does a little dance to reset his feet.

Hodson thows a body shot but no joy.
Karzai tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Hodson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Hodson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A head kick misses from Hodson.
Karzai tries to close the distance and clinch but Hodson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Karzai fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Hodson.

Karzai fails with an attempt to clinch.
Hodson is looking to wear down Karzai with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Karzai shoots in for a takedown but Hodson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Karzai jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hodson walks away with a smile on his face. Karzai gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Hodson connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Karzai's hands.
Hodson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Karzai moves away.
Karzai will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Karzai doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Karzai takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Hodson throws a body punch but Karzai moves out of range.
Karzai walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Karzai instigates a clinch.
Hodson can't break the clinch.
Hodson blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Hodson breaks the clinch.
Hodson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Karzai was well out of range. Poor timing from Hodson.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Hodson scores with a one two! Karzai had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Karzai wants to clinch up but Hodson keeps it at a distance.
Karzai checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Hodson swats away the attempt to clinch by Karzai.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Matt Hodson dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Karzai closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hodson circles away.
Karzai looking to score a takedown here. Hodson is defending well but Karzai drives through and ends up in Hodson's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hodson has his feet on Karzai's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Hodson jabbing away but nothing is landing.
A jab from Hodson finds it's way through Karzai's defenses.
Karzai walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hodson lands with a good body shot.
Hodson cracks Karzai with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Karzai looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Hodson finish him?
Karzai is rocked!
Hodson cracks Karzai with a brutal left hook that knocks him out cold! This one is over in a flash! Game over!
