These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karkmananis fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Smith avoids it really well and circles away.

Karkmananis has Smith up against the cage in a clinch.
Smith lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Karkmananis blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Smith escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Karkmananis clinches.
A short right from Smith.

Smith breaks from the clinch.
Smith fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Karkmananis on the side of the head.

Smith clinches up with Karkmananis and pushes him back against the cage.
Karkmananis tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Smith swings wildly with an uppercut but Karkmananis uses good head movement to avoid it.
A head punch on the inside from Smith fails to land.
Smith pushes Karkmananis back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Smith letting Karkmananis take a breather here.
Karkmananis jumps guard but Smith turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Terry Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nicolas Karkmananis.

Smith moves in looking to clinch but Karkmananis pushes him off.
Nice uppercut lands for Smith. That snapped Karkmananis's head back.
Smith stuffs the takedown attempt from Karkmananis. Karkmananis gets slowly back to his feet.
Karkmananis takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Smith avoids the body shot from Karkmananis.
Karkmananis uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Smith.
Smith feints a jab promting Karkmananis to slip. Smith then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Karkmananis slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Karkmananis closes the distance and pushes Smith back into the cage.
Smith tries to stall but Karkmananis uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Karkmananis lands an elbow just above Smith 's eye.
Smith misses with some punches.
Smith working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Smith lands with a light punch inside.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Karkmananis blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Karkmananis ducks under a wild hook from Smith.

Karkmananis darts in and clinches Smith up against the cage.
Smith softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Karkmananis is trying to break free.
Smith lands a left hand that snaps the head of Karkmananis backwards.
A frustrated look appears on Karkmananis's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Smith misses with some punches.

Smith breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Smith goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Smith moves into the clinch.
Smith working aggressively here.

Smith breaks the clinch.
Smith lands a lovely overhand right.
Smith blocks a head kick by Karkmananis.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Karkmananis moves into range and clinches up with Smith.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Smith creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Karkmananis lands an elbow inside that Smith shrugs off.


It looks like Terry Smith has been cut.

Smith escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Terry Smith is winning the standup battle so far.
Nice takedown defense from Smith. No joy for Karkmananis on that attempt.
Smith lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Karkmananis shoots in looking for a takedown but Smith manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Karkmananis's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Smith's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Smith closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Karkmananis! Smith dives in looking to finish! Karkmananis is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:28 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Terry Smith!
Terry Smith spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
