PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alcuid Francois (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matti Uninen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Francois comes into the arena with Intro blaring out of the sound system. Uninen is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Apocalyptica - Enter Sandman. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Francois gets caught flat footed, as Uninen shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Uninen gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Francois blocks a head kick by Uninen.
Francois gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Uninen counters with a slapping leg kick.
Uninen cracks Francois with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

It looks like Alcuid Francois has been cut.

Uninen closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Uninen lands in his opponent's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Uninen avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Uninen stands and steps away. Francois gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Uninen tries to keep at a distance but Francois has taken the fight into the clinch.

Francois is pressed up against the cage. Uninen has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Francois down to the mat. Francois avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Uninen lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Uninen.

Francois shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alcuid Francois. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Uninen throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Alcuid Francois seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Uninen feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Francois is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Uninen must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Francois looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Uninen is fending him off so far but Francois persists. Nope, Uninen circles away and we're back to standing.
Francois tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Uninen paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Francois shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Uninen as he jumps to the side.
Horrible takedown by Francois or perhaps it was just good defense by Uninen which made him look bad.

Uninen misses with a few strikes there.
Francois has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
A head kick by Uninen - that's a beauty! Francois is out but he's somehow still standing... he's going... going... gone. Like a drunk walking down the middle of the road, the inevitable face plant follows and the delayed knockout arrives. Even Uninen can't help but laugh at the bizarre end to this one!
