PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mikael Lindgren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Barrett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Barrett has chosen Riot Maker as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Hugh Johnson and Eliza Hachem.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lindgren manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Barrett on his heels. He'll look to pass Barrett's guard now, I'm sure.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Barrett isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Lindgren stacks Barrett on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Lindgren!
Barrett wants to control but Lindgren postures up.
Lindgren remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Barrett is trying to buck Lindgren off.
The referee asks Lindgren politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Lindgren prefers to stall for the moment though.

Lindgren wants to lay and pray for a moment but Barrett keeps working.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Lindgren seems to be looking for submissions.

Lindgren is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Barrett defends it well.

Lindgren's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Barrett is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Lindgren has taken his back!
Lindgren slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Barrett rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Barrett is looking to improve his position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Lindgren is trying for a kimura here. Barrett looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Lindgren wins by kimura!
