Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Keiji Kawada!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Mercenary Katarina!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Glass and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kawada closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Katarina quickly recovers to half guard.
Kawada passes the guard and advances to mount!
Katarina really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kawada. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kawada thowing shots but they're missing.
Kawada trying to control but Katarina is having none of it.

Kawada has control of Katarina's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Katarina regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Kawada jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Katarina manages to avoid the submission attempt.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kawada tries to advance to mount but Katarina denies him.

Kawada is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Katarina knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Katarina is not content to let Kawada control the position.

Kawada drops down looking for an ankle pick but Katarina pulls his leg out and moves away.

Kawada is looking to take a break and control but Katarina is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Katarina can do anything to dispel that myth.
Kawada is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Kawada advances nicely into full mount.

Katarina is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Kawada wants to finish this one by submission but Katarina is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Kawada.
Katarina is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Kawada stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

Kawada drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Kawada misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

Kawada is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Katarina knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Kawada wants to control but Katarina is keeping him busy.

Kawada is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Katarina is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Kawada has knee on belly and moves into mount.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kawada throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Keiji Kawada dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Katarina moves into the clinch successfully.
Kawada tries to score a body lock takedown but Katarina shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Katarina looking to throw knees to the head but Kawada is blocking nicely.

Kawada ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Kawada no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Kawada trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Kawada has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Katarina can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Katarina wants to stand but Kawada has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Kawada looking to hit a scissor sweep but Katarina is one step ahead there.

Kawada is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Katarina is aware though and is defending well.

Kawada lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Katarina!

Kawada throwing strikes but Katarina bucks up and reverses the position. He's now in guard on top.
Katarina wants to get up but he can't break Kawada's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Kawada not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Keiji Kawada wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Kawada throws a body kick that misses

and Katarina counters by moving into the clinch.
Katarina misses with a knee to the head.
Katarina looking to throw knees to the head but Kawada is blocking nicely.

Kawada jumps into guard, dragging Katarina to the mat.
Kawada wants to sweep here but Katarina controlling him for the moment.
Keiji Kawada is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Kawada is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Katarina is aware though and is defending well.
Kawada is trying to control the position but Katarina postures up.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Mercenary Katarina.

Kawada's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Mercenary Katarina has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Keiji Kawada showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kawada, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Keiji Kawada really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Heroic Combat Gear (Laundry service) logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
