PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mister Chicletinho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ed Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mister Chicletinho!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ed Alves!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Matheus Silva and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Alves feints and as Chicletinho raises his hands in defense, Alves changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Chicletinho looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Alves stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Chicletinho swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Chicletinho keeping moving, preventing Alves from controlling successfully.

Alves avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Alves wants to pass the guard but Chicletinho is keeping the position.
Alves wants to get up but he can't break Chicletinho's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Chicletinho can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Alves controls the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Ed Alves.

Alves looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Chicletinho!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Alves wants to control the pace but Chicletinho is squirming around nicely.

Chicletinho is looking to improve his position but Alves isn't that keen on the idea.
Chicletinho sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Alves decides to return to a standing position.

Alves shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Chicletinho is trying to defend but Alves finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Alves drops an elbow to the side of Chicletinho's head.
Alves is figuring out what he wants to do next.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Ed Alves hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Alves darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Alves postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Chicletinho to stand up.

Alves shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Chicletinho is trying to defend but Alves finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Chicletinho is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Alves pulls his head out easily.

Chicletinho is bucking up trying to escape but Alves cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Alves pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Alves postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Chicletinho looks a forlorn figure.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Chicletinho slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Chicletinho's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Alves tries to clinch up but Chicletinho circles away and keeps his distance.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ed Alves was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Alves moves in looking to clinch but Chicletinho pushes him off.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Alves closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Alves is trying to work for a kimura but Chicletinho is defending well.

Alves looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Chicletinho with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Alves wants to take a breather but Chicletinho is having none of it.

Chicletinho is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Alves pulls his head out easily.
Ed Alves has got the better of the ground game so far.
Alves is trying to control. Chicletinho wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Alves content to control rather than advance.

Alves wants to stand but Chicletinho has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Chicletinho makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Chicletinho.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Chicletinho working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Alves doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Alves manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Alves seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Ed Alves has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Alves shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Chicletinho manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Alves is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Chicletinho looking for subs off his back but Alves has passed one foot through into half guard.
Chicletinho is not content to let Alves control the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Alves wants to stand up but Chicletinho is controlling the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ed Alves showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Chicletinho closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Alves did well to prevent Chicletinho getting side control.

Alves is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Chicletinho defends well.

Alves has his feet on Chicletinho's thighs here. He's pushed Chicletinho off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Chicletinho screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
