Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kurt Orbiso!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kengo Watanabe!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Watanabe fails to land the takedown.

Watanabe closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Orbiso did well to prevent Watanabe getting side control.

Orbiso is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Watanabe scores with a couple of nice shots.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Watanabe seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Orbiso does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Watanabe must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Watanabe got a little sloppy there for a moment and Orbiso has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Watanabe has managed to get both his arms back between Orbiso's legs - danger averted.
Watanabe is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Watanabe postures up in Orbiso's guard and throws a big left but Orbiso blocks it.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Orbiso accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Watanabe wants to stand but Orbiso is controlling the position.

Watanabe pushes Orbiso off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Kengo Watanabe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Watanabe misses with a takedown attempt - Orbiso sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Watanabe shoots in for a takedown but Orbiso shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Kurt Orbiso has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kengo Watanabe.

Watanabe looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Orbiso is fending him off so far but Watanabe persists. Nope, Orbiso circles away and we're back to standing.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Watanabe thows a body shot but no joy.
Orbiso feints a jab promting Watanabe to slip. Orbiso then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Watanabe slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Watanabe shoots in for a takedown but Orbiso shows good takedown defense.
Watanabe throws a hook to the side of Orbiso's head but Orbiso sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kengo Watanabe dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Orbiso throws a right and a left that both miss.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Orbiso misses with a jab, cross combination.
Watanabe shoots for a double leg takedown but Orbiso sprawls well. He's pushed Watanabe's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Kurt Orbiso is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Watanabe shoots in for a takedown but Orbiso shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Orbiso lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Watanabe backs up against the cage.

Orbiso fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Watanabe, pushing him back against the cage.

Orbiso lands a hook that snaps the head of Watanabe backwards.

Orbiso gets control of Watanabe's arms and successfully pulls guard. Orbiso will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Kengo Watanabe.

Orbiso throws a series of punches but Watanabe avoids them all with ease.
Orbiso lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Watanabe circles away quickly and effectively.

Watanabe shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Watanabe was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Orbiso's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Watanabe postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Orbiso looks a forlorn figure.
Watanabe lands a big shot there that rocks Orbiso but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Watanabe cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Watanabe is in full mount looking to finish with strikes. He lands a big shot, followed by another and Orbiso goes limp! The ref jumps in to end the fight - a big win for Watanabe!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Kengo Watanabe!
