PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cory Minor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raging Punisher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Cory Minor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Raging Punisher!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Frank Antenori.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Minor wants to clinch but Punisher slips to the side

and Punisher counters with a shoot takedown. Minor fights it but they end up in guard.
Minor wants to stand but Punisher is controlling the position.
Minor is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Minor decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
A head kick misses from Punisher.
Punisher tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Minor misses with a straight right.
Minor tries to clinch up

and Punisher counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Minor!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Punisher goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Minor is on top in guard.
Minor stops Punisher from standing up.
Punisher really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Minor. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Punisher wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Minor is looking to stand up but Punisher won't let him.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Raging Punisher wasn't active enough on the ground.
Minor scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Minor checks a leg kick.

Punisher rushes Minor and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Punisher breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Punisher takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Punisher throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Minor tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Punisher is in Minor's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Minor is looking to stand back up but Punisher counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Minor.

Punisher takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Minor wants to control but Punisher is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Punisher content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Minor is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Punisher's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Punisher's back!
You can see the frustration on Punisher's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Punisher is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Punisher is keeping busy.
Minor is trying to stick to Punisher's back but Punisher is turning into Minor. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Minor's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Punisher.

Minor is looking to stand up but Punisher isn't so interested in that idea.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Punisher is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Punisher tries to free his leg and advance position but Minor is retaining full guard.
Punisher looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Minor bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Punisher's guard.
Minor pushes down on Punisher's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Minor postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Punisher to stand up.

and Punisher counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Punisher.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Punisher has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Minor is proving hard to escape from.

Minor is working an open guard so Punisher takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Punisher fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Punisher is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Minor tries to roll over but Punisher keeps him under control.
Minor is trying to control but can't.

Punisher is working for a submission of some sort.
Punisher keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Punisher decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Punisher feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Minor wants to sweep here but Punisher controlling him for the moment.
Minor not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Minor has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Punisher can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Raging Punisher has got the better of the ground game so far.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Minor is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Punisher is controlling him.

Punisher fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Minor sprawls well initially but Punisher persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Punisher passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Minor!
Punisher tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Minor is trying desperately to improve position.

Punisher lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Punisher sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Minor is trying to escape the mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Raging Punisher showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Cory Minor is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Minor stuffs the takedown attempt from Punisher. Punisher gets slowly back to his feet.

Punisher is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Minor has escaped the position, nice work there.
Punisher prevents Minor from escaping the position.
Minor is looking to regain half guard here but Punisher keeps moving and retains side control.
Minor manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Minor trying to hold on to Punisher's head to control him but Punisher postures up.

Punisher stands up and beckons Minor to join him on the feet.
Cory Minor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Punisher slips a jab and a cross from Minor.

Punisher shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Punisher showed some decent athleticism there.
Punisher is taking a breather. Minor says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Minor wants to get back to full guard.
Punisher trying to control the pace.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Raging Punisher was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Punisher rushes Minor and presses him up against the cage.
Minor is trying to break the clinch but Punisher is controlling him.

Minor tries for a takedown but Punisher sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Punisher shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
A nice elbow there by Punisher.
Minor can't escape the position.
Punisher breaks from Minor's wrist control and lands an elbow.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Cory Minor has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Raging Punisher is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Raging Punisher spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
