Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Josh Kippe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Vince Macdonald!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Daniel Franklin and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Macdonald. No joy for Kippe on that attempt.
Kippe shoots in but no luck this time.

Macdonald has managed to clinch.

Kippe has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Macdonald uses from the top position.

Macdonald is looking for a kimura but Kippe is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Macdonald to get the leverage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Macdonald working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Vince Macdonald wasn't active enough on the ground.
Kippe misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Josh Kippe. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Kippe is defended easily by Macdonald.

Macdonald feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Macdonald gets to his feet - Kippe follows without any prompting.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kippe fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Macdonald avoids it really well and circles away.

Kippe is breathing heavily.
Kippe shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Macdonald but Macdonald pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Macdonald shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Kippe manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Macdonald advances to half guard.
Macdonald moves into full mount! Kippe won't be happy about that!
Kippe wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Macdonald has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Macdonald has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Kippe has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Macdonald controls the position.
Kippe wants to escape the position.

Kippe won't enjoy being in this position. Macdonald looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Kippe is tapping - it's over boys! Macdonald picks up the submission victory!
