PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gary Gambino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Tupp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Tupp's choice of entrance music: "Iron Man" - Black Sabbath. Gary Gambino has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gary Gambino!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Tupp!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Steve Erwin and Skip Squint.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crunch! Gambino slams his shin into Tupp's torso.
Gambino shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Tupp as he jumps to the side.
Gambino tries a head kick but it misses.
Tupp avoids the head kick by Gambino.
A head kick misses from Gambino.

Tupp clinches.

Tupp breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Tupp misses with a wild combination.
Gambino circles away from the clinch attempt.

Tupp pushes Gambino up against the cage in a clinch.
Gambino connects with a knee to the head.
Tupp prevents Gambino from breaking the clinch.
The is referee keeping an eye on Tupp - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Gambino really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Gambino gets underhooks to prevent Tupp's takedown attempt.
Gambino wants to break the clinch but can't.
Tupp is working Gambino over against the cage.

Tupp breaks the clinch.
Gambino misses with a jab, cross combination.
Gambino tries to clinch there but Tupp circles away.

Tupp clinches up with Gambino and pushes him back against the cage.
Gambino drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Tupp gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Tupp taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Tupp continues to stall. The referee tells him to work or he's going to break them up.

Tupp breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Tupp fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Gambino, pushing him back against the cage.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Tupp takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Gambino wants to get back to striking at distance but Tupp won't allow it.
Gambino is breathing heavily.
A bit of stalling here from Tupp.
Tupp prevents Gambino from breaking the clinch.

Tupp breaks from the clinch.
Tupp throws a jab when Gambino was well out of range.

Tupp closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Tupp has hold of one of Gambino's legs. Gambino is fighting the takedown attempt but Tupp gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Tupp controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Tupp won't allow Gambino to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tupp is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Gambino has momentary wrist control but Tupp slips an elbow through the middle.
Tupp sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Gambino's guard.
Gambino has hold of Tupp's hands but Tupp slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Tupp has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Tupp passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Gambino!
Tupp lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Gambino wants to hold on but Tupp pushes him away.

Gambino tries to lock up and control but Tupp gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Gambino wants to try and get back to his feet.
Tupp tries to control but Gambino wriggling away.
Gambino is looking to improve his position but Tupp isn't that keen on the idea.
Gambino knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tupp on the ground.
BOOM! Tupp connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Gambino squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Tupp in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Gambino tries to get back to half guard but can't.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gambino tries to lock up and control but Tupp gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Gambino in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

Tupp working for a submission but Gambino is keeping him at bay.

Tupp is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Gambino can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Tupp looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Tupp lands a big shot there that rocks Gambino but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Tupp softens up his opponent with a couple of shots there and then CRACK! One massive shot lands there and Gambino is out cold! Tupp jumps to his feet and celebrates on the cage with the fans, who are, quite frankly, going absolutely mental!
