PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jake Rosholt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ellic McCrae (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Ellic McCrae was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Jake Rosholt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Ellic McCrae!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Colin Fotheringham and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCrae feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Rosholts jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Rosholt stuns McCrae with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
McCrae throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A jab lands there for Rosholt.
Ellic McCrae seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rosholt looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? McCrae is fending him off so far but Rosholt persists. Nope, McCrae circles away and we're back to standing.
Rosholt bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps McCrae's head backwards.
McCrae misses with a hook. Rosholt ducked under it nicely.
Nice straight punches there by McCrae. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of McCrae.
A looping hook to the body misses from McCrae. Rosholt does a little dance to reset his feet.
Donk. Rosholt catches McCrae right on the button with a cross.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

so Rosholt counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

McCrae is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Rosholt defends well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rosholt with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Rosholt trying to control but McCrae is working from the bottom.

McCrae escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rosholt gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Rosholt is really struggling to control McCrae but he's trying to hold on to the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jake Rosholt.
Rosholt fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
McCrae lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Rosholt backs up against the cage.
McCrae shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Rosholt counters with a nice uppercut.

Horrible takedown by Rosholt or perhaps it was just good defense by McCrae which made him look bad.
McCrae moves out of range of the strikes.

Rosholt shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in McCrae's guard.
Rosholt wants to control from the top but McCrae keeps moving.

McCrae looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rosholt accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

McCrae throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Rosholt escapes and throws McCrae's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Rosholt misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
McCrae is working to avoid the ground and pound but Rosholt connects with a decent elbow.
Rosholt is looking to take a break and control but McCrae is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
You can see the frustration on McCrae's face as Rosholt controls the position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

McCrae is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Rosholt.

Rosholt closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Rosholt looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
McCrae is looking to improve his position.
McCrae is trying to control but can't.

McCrae moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Rosholt slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

McCrae has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rosholt can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Rosholt's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Rosholt takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Rosholt lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
McCrae wants to control but Rosholt is having none of it.

Well Rosholt has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
