PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Grigorio Escobar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Grzegorz Schab (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Schab has chosen Monopol - Zodiak na melanżu as his entrance music. Grigorio Escobar is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Grigorio Escobar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Grzegorz Schab!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Donald Grub and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Escobar tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Schab counters with a shoot takedown. Escobar fights it but they end up in guard.
Escobar keeping moving, preventing Schab from controlling successfully.
Escobar has Schab pulled in close to control his posture.

Escobar working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Schab doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Schab manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Schab is working for a kimura but Escobar is defending it quite comfortably.

Schab is working for a submission of some sort.

Schab is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Escobar doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Schab.

Schab looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Schab is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Escobar is just riding it out for now. Schab eventually gives up the hold.

Schab seems to be looking for submissions.

Schab is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Escobar tries to get to full guard but Schab has control of the leg.
Escobar is refusing to be controlled, as Schab sits in half guard.

Schab is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Escobar has managed to free his arm - good work.

Schab is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Escobar tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Schab paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Schab uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Escobar.
Schab has a takedown stuffed.
Schab dodges the punch combination from Escobar.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Escobar with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Escobar lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Grigorio Escobar is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Escobar throws a jab but it's blocked by Schab.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Schab checks a leg kick.
Escobar fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Schab has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Escobar misses with a straight right.
Schab misses with a takedown attempt - Escobar sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Schab is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Escobar's half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Schab thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Escobar's head.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


No luck with that takedown attempt from Schab.

Escobar feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Schab's calf.

Schab takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Escobar plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Grzegorz Schab is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Escobar connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Schab's hands.
A head kick from Escobar lands but Schab takes it in his stride.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A decent looking cross lands there for Escobar.

Crack! A monster head kick from Escobar and Schab falls like a tree - timbeeeeeeeeeeerrrr! A highlight reel knockout by Escobar!
