PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between James Hammany (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Heel Jando (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jando comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Strokes - Someday kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Heel Jando will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jando throws a head kick that misses.

Jando has Hammany up against the cage in a clinch.
Hammany fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Hammany wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Jando breaks from the clinch.
Jando fails in his attempt to clinch.

Jando has taken the fight to the clinch.
Hammany wants a takedown but no success here.
Hammany wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Jando has him pressed against the cage.
Jando's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Jando drives through with a takedown into guard.

Hammany has his foot on Jando's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jando works his way back into a safe position though.
Jando is looking to stand up but Hammany won't let him.
Hammany not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Hammany bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jando's guard.
Jando wants to stand and escape but Hammany is having none of it.

Hammany passes Jando's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Hammany wants to free his trapped foot but Jando is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Hammany wants to take a breather but Jando is having none of it.
Jando wants to get back to his feet.

Jando kicks Hammany off and gets back to his feet.
Hammany closes the distance and clinches up with Jando, looking for a takedown. Hammany pushes Jando against the cage but Jando circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Hammany. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hammany is breathing heavily.

Jando clinches up with Hammany and pushes him back against the cage.
Jando is pressed up against the cage. Hammany has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Jando down to the mat. Jando avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jando.

Hammany is looking for a triangle but Jando pushes his legs off easily.

Hammany wants to sweep but no luck.

Jando wants to get up but he can't break Hammany's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Hammany closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Hammany shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jando pinned against the cage. Jando gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Hammany shoots and misses

and Jando counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jando is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Hammany gets back to full guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hammany manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jando manages to get himself to full guard.
Jando wants to get back to his feet but Hammany is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Hammany is posturing up here but Jando has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Hammany tries to roll out but it's too tight and Hammany has to tap! Slick submission there by Jando!
