PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mariusz Pudzianowski Ware (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Farrow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Farrow has chosen Twa Corbies as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mariusz Pudzianowski Ware!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnny Farrow!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, George Francis and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ware looks for a takedown but Farrow sprawls well.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Farrow is defended easily by Ware.
Ware misses with a kick to the body.
Ware shoots in and drives through. Farrow sprawls well.
Farrow dives in and grabs Ware's left leg, looking for a takedown. Ware pushes down on Farrow's head and hops out.
Ware closes this distance looking for a takedown but Farrow circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mariusz Pudzianowski Ware. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Farrow gets a takedown into half guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Ware wants to stand back up but Farrow manages to pass into side control.

Farrow is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Ware's shoulder. That is not cool.
Ware is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Ware pushes Farrow away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Farrow gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Farrow controlling the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Johnny Farrow hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Farrow closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Farrow lands in his opponent's guard.
Farrow is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ware looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Farrow's corner is telling him to maintain position.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Farrow stands and throws Ware's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Ware trying to remain calm as Farrow controls from the top position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ware struggling a bit here.
Ware tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Farrow wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Ware is trying to escape the position but Farrow is controlling the position.
Let's hope that Farrow has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ware prevents Farrow from improving position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Farrow fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ware sprawls well initially but Farrow persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Ware strikes from the bottom but Farrow uses the opportunity to move to side control.
Ware is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Farrow is controlling him well.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Farrow in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Ware is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
You can see the frustration on Ware's face as Farrow controls the position.

Farrow tries to advance to mount but Ware denies him.
Ware throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Ware tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Farrow controlling his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ware is wriggling around trying to escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Farrow controlling the position easily from mount.
Ware really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Johnny Farrow hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Ware throws a body kick that misses.
Ware stuffs the takedown attempt from Farrow. Farrow gets slowly back to his feet.
Ware fails with a takedown attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Farrow changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ware tries to avoid it but Farrow manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ware to the ground. Ware escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Ware shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Farrow as he jumps to the side.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Farrow is controlling the pace.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Farrow wants to free his trapped foot but Ware is holding on for dear life with his legs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johnny Farrow showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Ware shoots for a double leg takedown but Farrow sprawls well. He's pushed Ware's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Ware will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Mariusz Pudzianowski Ware seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Horrible takedown by Ware or perhaps it was just good defense by Farrow which made him look bad.

Ware tries to close the distance and clinch up but Farrow swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Ware pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Ware shoots in for a takedown but Farrow shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Ware tries to close the distance and clinch but Farrow swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Farrow looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Ware!

Farrow sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Oh Ware is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Johnny Farrow has got the better of the ground game so far.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Johnny Farrow was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Farrow lands a huge takedown. Ware is out but the ref is slow to react and Farrow lands 3 more undefended punches before the fight is stopped. Brutal finish. Ware lies on the canvas for a good minute before the doctors bring him round. Good to see he's OK.
