PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jacob Obworth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christopher Samba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Obworth comes into the arena with Sabaton - Wolfpack blaring out of the sound system. The crowd seem to be enjoying Samba's choice of entrance music: Bezerker by Love Among Freaks. Christopher Samba has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 8 - 2, fighting out of Hilo, Christopher Samba!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shigeki Sano and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Samba keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Obworth scores with a hook to the body. Samba takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Samba cracks Obworth with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Samba has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Obworth to stand back up!


It looks like Jacob Obworth has been cut.
Samba dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Obworth. That did some damage!

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Samba.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Samba throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Obworth tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Samba is in Obworth's guard.

Christopher Samba showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Obworth connects with a nice short shot to Samba's temple.

Samba is looking for a sweep. Obworth is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Obworth is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Samba doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Obworth.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Obworth seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Christopher Samba wasn't active enough on the ground.

Samba catches Obworth with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Obworth throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Obworth rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Samba counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Obworth dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jacob Obworth.
I think Samba has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
