PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kenshiro Kasumi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kasumi comes to the cage accompanied by Ai Wo Torimodose aka Song of Manliness. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kasumi lands with a kick to the temple. Williams shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Kasumi steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Williams.
Kasumi scores with a jab to the body.
Kasumi getting the better of the striking in that exchange.

It looks like Bob Williams has been cut.
Kasumi cracks Williams with an open hand slap.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Williams clinches.
Williams has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Kasumi avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Williams's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Kasumi lands a nice looking body shot.
Kasumi looks to throw the jab but Williams is out of range.
Williams lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Williams doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Kasumi counters with a nice uppercut.

Bob Williams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kasumi buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Williams looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Kasumi wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Williams on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Williams wants to clinch but Kasumi slips to the side
and Kasumi cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

That has opened up Bob Williams's cut even more.

A looping hook to the body misses from Kasumi. Williams does a little dance to reset his feet.
A clash of legs there as Kasumi blocks the low kick.
Kasumi stuffs the takedown attempt from Williams. Williams gets slowly back to his feet.
Kenshiro Kasumi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bob Williams.
Kasumi misses with a series of wild punches.

Williams looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kasumi is fending him off so far but Williams persists. Nope, Kasumi circles away and we're back to standing.
Kenshiro Kasumi is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Williams tries to clinch but Kasumi moves out of range.
Williams is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Kasumi misses with a hook. Williams ducked under it nicely.
Williams wants to clinch up but Kasumi keeps it at a distance.
Kasumi blocks a head kick by Williams.
Kasumi throws a jab but it's blocked by Williams.
Kasumi lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Williams fails to land the takedown.
Williams lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Kasumi swats away the attempt to clinch by Williams.

Kasumi breaks the clinch.
Williams throws a head kick that misses.
Williams shoots in looking for a takedown. Kasumi tries to sprawl out of it but Williams keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kasumi manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Williams misses with a wild body shot.
Williams avoids the body shot from Kasumi.
Kasumi jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Williams is trying desperately to land a takedown but Kasumi is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Williams.

The cut above Bob Williams's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
A lazy left from Kasumi finds it's target.
Williams takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

and Kasumi counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Kasumi swings for the body but Williams moves out of range.
Williams closes the distance looking to clinch
and Kasumi makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Williams avoids a punch combination nicely.
Williams tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Kasumi manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Kasumi missing with a left hand there. Williams was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Williams throws a lazy head kick
and Kasumi counters with a thumping low kick.
Kasumi connects with a body shot.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Williams gets a double leg takedown into Kasumi's guard.
Kasumi is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Kasumi is trying to control the position from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Kenshiro Kasumi is winning the standup battle so far.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The fight stays on the outside here - Williams looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Bob Williams is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Kasumi throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Williams stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Kasumi jabs Williams right on the nose. Williams blinks but takes it well.

Bob Williams's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Kasumi connects with a leg kick. Williams looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Kasumi finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Bob Williams's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
