These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dnoces steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Birchmont.
Birchmont takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Birchmont throws a lazy right hand but Dnoces sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Birchmont takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Birchmont looks to score with a jab to the body but Dnoces is just out of range.
Dnoces ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
The fighters circle momentarily. Birchmont darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

It looks like Tsrif Dnoces has been cut.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Dnoces closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
