The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Thiago Cunha and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Alves lands a jab to the nose.
It looks like Walter Sobchak has been cut.
Alves shoots in for a double leg but Sobchak sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Sobchak lands with a thumping leg kick.
Sobchak takes a swing at Alves's ribcage but misses.
Sobchak walks forward, straight into a front kick from Alves.
Alves looks to land a right hand but Sobchak moved out of range.
Sobchak walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Sobchak ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Alves moves away.
Alves swings for the body but Sobchak moves out of range.
Sobchak fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Alves manages to avoid it.
Alves will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Alves lands a jab to the nose.
Alves moves into the clinch successfully.

Sobchak on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Alves shoots in but no luck this time.

Good leg kick by Sobchak there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Alves takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Alves is trying hard to land a takedown here. Sobchak sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

and Sobchak counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Danilo Alves seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Alves digs a good body shot into Sobchak's ribs.

Alves lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Sobchak circles away quickly and effectively.

Alves connects with a nice looking jab.
Alves fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Sobchak avoids it really well and circles away.
Alves throws a looping overhand right but Sobchak ducks down to avoid it.
Alves misses with a straight right.
Sobchak throws a front kick aimed at Alves's knee but Alves avoids it well.
Alves connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Sobchak ducks under a wild hook from Alves.
Alves shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sobchak pinned against the cage. Sobchak gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
A bone on bone clash there as Alves blocks the leg kick.
Sobchak thumps Alves with a low kick.
Alves scores with a jab to the jaw.

Alves chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Sobchak can pounce on him.
Walter Sobchak is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Alves connects with a high kick.
Sobchak lands a head kick. Alves smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Alves throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Alves avoids the head kick by Sobchak.
Sobchak takes one to the side of the head.
Sobchak bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Sobchak will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Alves tests Sobchak's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Alves is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Sobchak pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Sobchak is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Alves.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Alves takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Alves checks a leg kick.

Sobchak keeps the fight on the outside.
Alves throws a jab when Sobchak was well out of range.
Alves misses with a wild combination.
Alves manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Sobchak on his heels. He'll look to pass Sobchak's guard now, I'm sure.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Alves drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Sobchak dives on top into guard.
Alves throws his legs up looking for a submission but Sobchak uses it to pass to side control.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Alves is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Sobchak asserts his dominance and retains side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Danilo Alves will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Sobchak slips under a jab.
Alves throws a good cross that connects.
Alves swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Sobchak walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Sobchak throws a shot to the body.
Alves moves out of range of the leg kick from Sobchak.
Sobchak throws a big shot that misses.
Sobchak just misses with a punch to the body.
Sobchak throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Alves lands a right hook to the body.
Sobchak throws a sloppy body shot
and Alves cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sobchak dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Alves drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sobchak gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Alves wants to pass the guard but Sobchak is defending well.
Sobchak manages to get to full guard.
Alves throwing strikes from guard but Sobchak blocks nicely.
Alves trying to control the position from guard on top but Sobchak is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Alves has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Sobchak is proving hard to escape from.
Alves lands a couple of elbows.

Alves slips nicely into half guard.
Sobchak is looking for a sweep. Alves is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Alves winds up and cracks Sobchak with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Alves is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Sobchak is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Danilo Alves overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Alves is in the full mount, landing strikes.
That has opened up Walter Sobchak's cut even more.
Sobchak is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Sobchak is in a horrible position here. Alves smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
The cut above Walter Sobchak's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Walter Sobchak's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
