PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Emere Hoehne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edson Barboza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Edson Barboza told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hoehne drives through with a takedown into guard.
Hoehne wanted to stand there but Barboza had control of the position.
Hoehne pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Barboza is keeping the position for now.
Barboza not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Hoehne makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Hoehne is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Barboza is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Barboza has escaped and now he's on top!

Hoehne is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Barboza is aware though and is defending well.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hoehne manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Barboza really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hoehne. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hoehne swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Barboza is now in Hoehne's guard. A big mistake from Hoehne there, giving up the dominant position!
Barboza must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Hoehne working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Barboza doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Hoehne is tightening it up a little... Barboza has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Barboza reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Barboza taps out! Nice BJJ there by Hoehne!
