PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Zak Zak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mongol Magyar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mongol Magyar!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Aleksandr Martynov and Dmitry Maklakov.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from Magyar does no damage.
Magyar closes the distance but Zak moves to the side
and Zak cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Zak thows a body shot but no joy.
A looping hook to the body misses from Magyar. Zak does a little dance to reset his feet.

Zak clinches up against the cage.
Magyar tries a body shot but Zak blocks it.

Zak successfully pulls guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Zak had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Magyar defends it easily.

Zak will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

We're going to have a standup here because Zak Zak wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Magyar pushes Zak back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Zak escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Magyar will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Magyar throws a punch but it's blocked by Zak.
Zak jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Magyar walks away with a smile on his face. Zak gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Magyar misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

A nice left hand lands by Magyar.

Zak tries to land knees in the clinch but Magyar avoids the damage to the body.
Magyar lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Zak backwards.

Zak tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Magyar swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Magyar throws a lazy right hand but Zak sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Zak has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Magyar is working away from the top position though.

Mongol Magyar showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Magyar throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Zak tries to score a power double leg takedown but Magyar sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Zak somewhat.

I would just about give that final round to Mongol Magyar.
I think Magyar has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
