Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dwight Howard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Barnett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Howard's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Superman. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dwight Howard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ryan Barnett!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shirou Masuda and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Howard has taken the fight to the clinch.
Howard's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Howard drops down looking for an ankle pick but Barnett pulls his leg out and moves away.

and Barnett counters by clinching up.

Howard jumps guard and drags Barnett to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Howard is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Barnett wants to control from the top but Howard keeps moving.
Howard knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Barnett on the ground.
Barnett wanted to stand there but Howard had control of the position.
Howard looking to hit a scissor sweep but Barnett is one step ahead there.

Howard is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Howard shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Howard showed some decent athleticism there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Barnett takes a head kick and keeps coming.

That was a close second round but I would say that Dwight Howard will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Barnett changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Howard tries to avoid it but Barnett manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Howard to the ground. Howard escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Howard got a little sloppy there for a moment and Barnett has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Howard has managed to get both his arms back between Barnett's legs - danger averted.
Barnett takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Howard seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Howard decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Barnett, up you get!

Howard closes the distance and clinches up with Barnett, looking for a takedown. Howard pushes Barnett against the cage but Barnett circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Barnett is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Howard pulls his head out easily.

Howard has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Dwight Howard overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Howard is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Barnett sees it coming and defends easily.
Barnett is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Howard tries to pass the half guard into mount. Barnett knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Howard prevents Barnett from improving his position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dwight Howard showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Howard has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
