The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baker misses with a low kick as Darwin jumps back.
Darwin fails to land the takedown.

Darwin shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Darwin was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Baker is trying to stand but he's just given Darwin his back.

Baker is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Baker is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Darwin gets his way!

Baker lets loose with a powerful body kick. Darwin will feel that in the morning.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Baker throws a series of punches but Darwin moves out of range.
Baker looks to score with a jab to the body but Darwin is just out of range.

and Darwin counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Baker's guard now.
Baker is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Darwin wants to control from the top but Baker keeps moving.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Darwin drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Darwin jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Darwin is pushing down on Baker's leg trying to pass to half guard. Baker is fighting to maintain full guard but Darwin has managed to sneak the leg through.
Baker is trying to stand up here but Darwin is controlling him well.

Baker wants to get back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Beast Baker will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

and Darwin counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Darwin wants to free his trapped foot but Baker is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Darwin is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Baker pushes Darwin off looking to stand but Darwin dives back in and keeps control.
Darwin is looking to advance position but Baker won't allow it.
Darwin wants to control but Baker is keeping him busy.
Darwin is breathing heavily.

Baker kicks off Darwin and gets to his feet.
Darwin shoots in looking for a takedown. Baker tries to sprawl out of it but Darwin keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Baker manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Beast Baker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Baker throws a right hand that Darwin ducks under and follows up with a left that Darwin also avoids with ease.
Darwin shoots in for a double leg but Baker sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Beast Baker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steve Darwin.
Darwin shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Baker as he avoids it easily.
Baker lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Darwin at a distance.
Darwin is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Beast Baker is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Baker lands a brutal head kick. Darwin looks out on his feet and Baker throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!
