The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Troy misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Ilay moves into range and clinches up with Troy.
Troy tries to pull guard but Ilay won't allow it.
Ilay keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Troy's efforts to push away.
Troy tries for a takedown. No joy.
Ron Ilay has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Troy.
Troy is looking for a takedown.

Ilay has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Troy uses from the top position.
Troy throws a big right hand that misses.
Ilay thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Troy wants to pass the guard but Ilay is keeping the position.
Ilay is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Ilay really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Troy wants to control from the top but Ilay keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by John Troy.
Ilay tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Troy misses with a takedown attempt

and Ilay counters with a nice double leg into side control. Troy won't be happy with that.
Troy is trying to escape the position but Ilay is controlling the position.
Ilay tries to stand but Troy is controlling his head.
Troy defending against the ground and pound.

Troy is looking to regain half guard here but Ilay keeps moving and retains side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ilay postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Troy should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Ilay wants to stand but Troy is controlling his arm.
Troy sneaks back into half guard.
Ilay wants to control but Troy is keeping him busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Troy is looking for a sweep. Ilay is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Ilay tries to pass to full mount but Troy defends it.
Troy is not content to let Ilay control the position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Troy is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Ilay's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Ilay's back!

Troy looking for the choke but no joy.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Troy's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Ilay is trying to get back to his feet but Troy has full control of the position and if anything, Ilay has just worked his way into a worse spot.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

You can see the frustration on Ilay's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Ilay is breathing heavily.
Ilay trying to control but not successfully.

Troy has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Ilay is defending well but eventually Troy manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Ilay has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!
