Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Karri Kemppainen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Raimo Helminen!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Marco Blurström and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kemppainen digs a good hook to Helminen's body.
Kemppainen's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Kemppainen duly obliges.
Kemppainen shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Helminen as he avoids it easily.

Kemppainen darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Helminen has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kemppainen is working away from the top position though.
Kemppainen thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Kemppainen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Helminen keeps working.
Kemppainen tries to pass to full mount but Helminen defends it.
Helminen is not content to let Kemppainen control the position.
Helminen is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Helminen tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Helminen.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Helminen stands up.
Helminen with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Kemppainen to score with a decent uppercut.

Kemppainen throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Kemppainen will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Helminen has a takedown stuffed.
Kemppainen throws a nice looking combination but Helminen bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Helminen changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kemppainen tries to avoid it but Helminen manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kemppainen to the ground. Kemppainen escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kemppainen trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Helminen doesn't escape.
Kemppainen tries to keep control of the position but Helminen is staying busy.
The referee is taking a good look at Helminen as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Kemppainen!

Kemppainen is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Kemppainen lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Kemppainen.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Helminen covering up well and avoiding damage.

Karri Kemppainen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Helminen controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
Kemppainen is trying to stick to Helminen's back but Helminen is turning into Kemppainen. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Kemppainen's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Helminen.
