Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brock Samson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Cook (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Samson comes to the cage accompanied by The Venture Brothers Opening Theme. Cook has chosen Cormega - built for this as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brock Samson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chris Cook!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Bruno Lombardi and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cook ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Cook looks to throw the jab but Samson is out of range.
Samson misses with a body shot.
Samson drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Cook throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Samson wants to clinch.
Cook lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Samson circles away quickly and effectively.
Samson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Cook moves away.
Nice defenses there by Cook.
Samson scores with a crisp jab that stopped Cook in his tracks.


It looks like Chris Cook has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Cook has managed to clinch.
Cook keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Samson's efforts to push away.
Samson tries to throw a body punch but Cook avoids it by throwing Samson back against the cage.
Cook stalls.
Samson fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Samson is trying to break the clinch but Cook is controlling him.
Cook tries to land knees in the clinch but Samson avoids the damage to the body.
Samson blocks a body shot from Cook.
Cook scores with a nice hook to the head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cook prevents the takedown attempt.
Samson wants a takedown but no success here.
Cook tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Samson's elbow.

Samson jumps into guard, dragging Cook to the mat.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Samson doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Cook seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Samson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Samson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Cook is aware though and is defending well.

Samson working for a triangle but Cook defends it easily.
Samson tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Samson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Cook passes into half guard.
Cook tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Samson moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Cook stands up from Samson's guard - Cook perhaps looking for a knockout.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cook tests Samson's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Chris Cook is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Jab, jab by Cook - just one landing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cook thuds a left hand into Samson's body.
Cook loads up on a big right hand but Samson slips the punch.
Samson throws a shot to the body.
Cook avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Cook tries to clinch but Samson moves out of range.
Cook misses with a jab, cross combination.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Cook enables Samson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Cook manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Samson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Samson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Samson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Samson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Cook avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Samson throwing strikes but missing.
Samson with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Samson throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Cook working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Samson.
Samson is looking to work some ground and pound but Cook has wrist control.
Samson throwing strikes from guard but Cook blocks nicely.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Samson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Samson is pushing down on Cook's leg trying to pass to half guard. Cook is fighting to maintain full guard but Samson has managed to sneak the leg through.
Samson thows a huge punch but Cook dodges it nicely.
Samson is looking to pass Cook's guard but actually Cook recovers to full guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Samson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Cook manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Samson has Cook in his guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Brock Samson will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Chris Cook's cut.
That's time! Samson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Samson scores with the left hand. Cook knows he should have avoided that one.
Brock Samson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Samson uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Cook.
Cook avoids the body shot from Samson.
Samson lands a right hook to the body.
Cook scores with a shot to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Samson takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
A nice leg kick lands there from Samson.
Samson fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Cook dips to his left and cracks Samson with an uppercut!
A jab from Cook misses.
Samson lands a nice shot to the body.
Samson tries to clinch there but Cook circles away.
Samson tries to land a leg kick but Cook saw it coming and moves away.
A jab from Cook misses.
Samson takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Samson throws out a leg kick but Cook moves out of range and Samson only half commits.
Samson throws a jab when Cook was well out of range.
Samson ducks under a wild hook from Cook.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cook leaves his chin hanging out and Samson seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Cook crumbles to the floor in a heap! The referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!
