PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Walter Chestnut (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Death Bringer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chestnut's entrance music is Albatross, Albatross, Albatross. A fine choice. Bringer has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Walter Chestnut!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Death Bringer!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Steve Erwin and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chestnut lands a right hook to the body.
Bringer looks winded!
Chestnut jabs Bringer to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Chestnut fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Chestnut misses with a body kick.
Bringer drops his hands momentarily and Chestnut takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Chestnut is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Bringer's half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Chestnut slows the pace down in half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Chestnut trying to pass the guard but Bringer defending well.

Chestnut wants to work for an arm triangle but Bringer is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Chestnut tries to pass the half guard into mount. Bringer knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Chestnut stalling.

Chestnut seems to be working for a kimura but Bringer defends the submission attempt.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Chestnut in particular looking to stall.

Chestnut is trying to control. Bringer wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Chestnut keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Chestnut tries to pass to full mount but Bringer defends it.

Chestnut seems to be working for a kimura but Bringer defends the submission attempt.

Chestnut controlling the pace.

Chestnut is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Bringer defends it well.

Chestnut is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Bringer has managed to free his arm - good work.

Chestnut looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Chestnut is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bringer is just riding it out for now. Chestnut eventually gives up the hold.

Chestnut is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Walter Chestnut dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Chestnut connects with a nice looking jab.
Chestnut tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bringer swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Nice takedown defense from Bringer. No joy for Chestnut on that attempt.
Chestnut cracks Bringer with an open hand slap.
Bringer defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Chestnut.

Chestnut closes the distance and clinches.
Chestnut throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Bringer blocks it with crossed arms.
Bringer is breathing heavily.

Chestnut pulls guard.
Chestnut looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Chestnut has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bringer can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Chestnut is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Bringer rolls with it to try and escape but Chestnut cranks on the arm and Bringer is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Walter Chestnut!
In his post fight interview, Walter Chestnut started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
