Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Emelyanenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Russel Shak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexander Emelyanenko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Russel Shak!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Sergei Dronov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shak darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Shak controlling the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Shak is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Emelyanenko sees it coming and defends easily.
Emelyanenko knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Shak on the ground.

Shak is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Emelyanenko doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Shak.
Shak is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Emelyanenko!

That's one minute gone in the round.

Shak stands up from mount. Strange move.

Shak bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Shak is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Emelyanenko will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
It looks like Shak might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Shak has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Emelyanenko is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Shak yanks on the arm and Emelyanenko is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Shak.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Russel Shak!
