PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Michael Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rampage Jockson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jockson has chosen Can't Be Touched as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Michael Scott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rampage Jockson!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shirou Masuda and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jockson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Scott.
Jockson moves out of range of the strikes.
Scott shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jockson as he jumps to the side.
Scott thows a body shot but no joy.
Scott shoots in but Jockson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Scott takes a swing at Jockson's ribcage but misses.
Scott misses with an uppercut.
Scott takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Jockson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Scott manages to avoid it.
Scott closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jockson circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michael Scott. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Jockson counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Scott thinking.
Scott just misses with a punch to the body.
Michael Scott seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Scott enables Jockson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Scott manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Jockson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Jockson tries to free his leg and advance position but Scott is retaining full guard.

Jockson wanted to stand there but Scott had control of the position.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Jockson lands a nice short elbow.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Jockson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Scott is proving hard to escape from.
Jockson trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Jockson trying to control the position from guard on top but Scott is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Scott can't keep his opponent in guard - Jockson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Scott is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Jockson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Jockson's back!

Jockson turns into Scott and is now in his guard.
Jockson trying to control the position from guard on top but Scott is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jockson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Scott looking for a guillotine here but Jockson defends easily.
Scott is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Scott is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Jockson postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Scott has control of Jockson's left arm, preventing Jockson from doing any damage.

Scott had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jockson defends it easily.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Scott is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Jockson scores with a couple of nice shots.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.


Jockson throws out a leg kick but Scott moves out of range and Jockson only half commits.
Scott looks to land a left hand but Jockson moved out of range nicely.
Scott takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Scott takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Scott fails with the takedown.
Scott throws a jab but it's blocked by Jockson.

Scott misses with a hook. Jockson ducked under it nicely.
Scott shoots in for a double leg but Jockson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

and Jockson counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Jockson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jockson wants it to stay on the feet.

Scott rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jockson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

and Scott counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Scott is fighting to break Jockson's control of his arms but Jockson is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Jockson controls Scott momentarily but Scott frees himself.
Rampage Jockson has got the better of the ground game so far.
Scott tries to free his leg and advance position but Jockson is retaining full guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jockson wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Rampage Jockson has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Scott bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Scott throws a right and a left that both miss.
Scott tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Jockson was well out of range. Poor timing from Scott.
Scott shoots in for a takedown but Jockson shows good takedown defense.

Scott is looking to wear down Jockson with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Jockson displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Scott throws out the jab.

Jockson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Scott's guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Scott swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Scott looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

A looping hook to the body misses from Scott. Jockson does a little dance to reset his feet.
Scott throws the left hand but Jockson avoids the punch easily.
Jockson cracks Scott with a right hand to the side of the head.
Jockson tries to bum rush Scott with a series of wild strikes but Scott uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Rampage Jockson is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Scott fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Scott takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Jockson lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Scott tries for a takedown but Jockson circles away easily
enabling Jockson to counter with a crisp jab.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Michael Scott.
Well Jockson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
