Safo wants to clinch up but McKendrick keeps it at a distance.
Safo throws a combination but it was largely blocked by McKendrick.

Safo bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps McKendrick's head backwards.

McKendrick takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
McKendrick throws a head kick but Safo moves out of range.
McKendrick fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Some bone on bone action there as Safo checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Safo throws a leg kick but McKendrick sees it coming and checks it nicely.

McKendrick bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Safo is looking for a sweep.
McKendrick working away.

Safo stops McKendrick from passing to mount.
Safo is not content to let McKendrick control the position.

McKendrick is working to tighten is grip on Safo's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Safo has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but McKendrick is really squeezing tight and eventually Safo passes out! McKendrick breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

After winning the bout, Luke McKendrick thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
