PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Shlemenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Achillies Warrior (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Alexander Shlemenko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Achillies Warrior!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shlemenko shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Warrior sprawls well. Warrior wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Shlemenko gets slowly back to his feet.

Warrior is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Shlemenko's half guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Warrior uses his free foot to push down on Shlemenko's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Shlemenko.

Warrior misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Warrior seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Shlemenko is holding on tight.

Warrior lands a big elbow.
Warrior is landing with some decent strikes but Shlemenko is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Warrior lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Shlemenko is squirming around, avoiding Warrior's attempts to control the action.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Warrior has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Warrior tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Warrior can't do much from the bottom here.

Warrior stands up from mount. Strange move.
Shlemenko dives in and grabs Warrior's left leg, looking for a takedown. Warrior pushes down on Shlemenko's head and hops out.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Shlemenko.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Warrior.
Shlemenko looks to land a combination. Warrior sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Warrior shoots for a takedown but Shlemenko saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Horrible takedown by Warrior or perhaps it was just good defense by Shlemenko which made him look bad.
Alexander Shlemenko has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Achillies Warrior.
Shlemenko tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Warrior manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Warrior closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Warrior lands in his opponent's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Achillies Warrior has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Shlemenko is defended easily by Warrior.
No luck for Shlemenko with that takedown attempt.

Warrior clinches with his opponent.
Warrior wants to get back to striking at distance but Shlemenko won't allow it.

Warrior drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Warrior wants a takedown but no success here.
Warrior will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Shlemenko up against the cage.

Warrior shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Warrior has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Shlemenko's face.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Achillies Warrior showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Warrior shoots in looking for a takedown. Shlemenko tries to sprawl out of it but Warrior keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Shlemenko manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Warrior shoots in and bounces Shlemenko off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Shlemenko has a closed guard, preventing Warrior from standing up.

Shlemenko controls Warrior momentarily but Warrior frees himself.
Shlemenko is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Achillies Warrior hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
The fight stays on the outside here - Shlemenko looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Warrior is trying to push Shlemenko away but Shlemenko has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Shlemenko tries to pull guard but Warrior holds him up against the cage and eventually Shlemenko drops back down to his feet.

Shlemenko's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Warrior looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Warrior throws a right and a left that Shlemenko avoids nicely.

And that's the end of the fight!
Achillies Warrior comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Warrior has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
