PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gegard Zaromskis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arshad Singh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Singh comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Check it out kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gegard Zaromskis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Arshad Singh!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Leandro Rodrigues and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Singh throws a lazy right hand but Zaromskis sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Singh shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Singh is looking to clinch.

Singh closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Zaromskis to the mat! Zaromskis manages to get full guard.

Zaromskis escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Singh gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Zaromskis is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Zaromskis is looking for a triangle but Singh pushes his legs off easily.
Singh throws a strike but Zaromskis rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Zaromskis wants to pass the guard but Singh is keeping the position.
Zaromskis loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Singh trying to keep a closed guard but Zaromskis is proving a slippery customer.
Singh is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Zaromskis got a little sloppy there for a moment and Singh has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Zaromskis has managed to get both his arms back between Singh's legs - danger averted.
Zaromskis lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Zaromskis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Singh pushes Zaromskis off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Singh bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Zaromskis's head backwards.
Zaromskis fails in his attempt to clinch.
Singh thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Zaromskis if he has to take too many more of those.

Zaromskis throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Singh looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Zaromskis swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Zaromskis slips a jab and a cross from Singh.
Zaromskis throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Singh's waist but Singh gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Zaromskis off to one side.

Singh swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Singh shoots for a takedown but Zaromskis saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Zaromskis is pressed up against the cage. Singh has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Zaromskis down to the mat. Zaromskis avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Gegard Zaromskis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Arshad Singh.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Singh tries to close the distance and clinch but Zaromskis swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Arshad Singh will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Zaromskis blocks a head kick by Singh.
Zaromskis on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Singh dives in and grabs Zaromskis's left leg, looking for a takedown. Zaromskis pushes down on Singh's head and hops out.
Zaromskis takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Singh shoots in for a double leg but Zaromskis sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Zaromskis tries to clinch up.
Singh throws a push kick but Zaromskis slaps the foot to one side.
Singh missing with a left hand there. Zaromskis was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Singh throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Zaromskis lands with a nice body punch.
Zaromskis looks to score with a jab to the body but Singh is just out of range.
Zaromskis slips a jab and a cross from Singh.
Zaromskis tries to close the distance and clinch but Singh swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Arshad Singh seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Singh darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Singh is looking to take a break and control but Zaromskis is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Zaromskis tries to roll over but Singh keeps him under control.

Zaromskis is not content to let Singh control the position.

Singh gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Zaromskis is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Singh throws a chopping leg kick but Zaromskis manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Singh closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Zaromskis's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Singh postures up.
Singh wants to control from the top but Zaromskis keeps moving.
Zaromskis controls Singh momentarily but Singh frees himself.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Singh stopping the sweep attempt from Zaromskis.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Gegard Zaromskis just wasn't active enough.
Singh misses with a double jab.
Singh tries to close the distance and clinch up but Zaromskis swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Singh gets caught flat footed, as Zaromskis shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Singh is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Zaromskis wants to control but Singh is keeping busy.
Singh not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Singh seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Zaromskis is staying active underneath Singh, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Zaromskis is trying to stand back up but Singh is controlling him
Arshad Singh has got the better of the ground game so far.

Singh seems to be working for a kimura but Zaromskis defends the submission attempt.

Singh goes for a cartwheel guard pass here but Zaromskis does a handstand and catches Singh in mid air with a triangle! Could it be? It is! It's the triple decker pecker wrecker! The fighters land on the ground with Zaromskis on top - Singh is already out from the submission! Zaromskis gives Singh's pecker the obligatory post submission twist and this one is aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall over! Are you kidding me! That is world class Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. That guy is my hero!
