PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Shin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Uran Tine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Uran Tine told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Marcus Shin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Uran Tine!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Saam Ante and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tine steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Shin.
Tine misses with a takedown attempt

and Shin counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Tine preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Tine is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Shin scoring with some ground and pound.
Tine can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Shin controls the pace.
Shin with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Tine wants to stand up but Shin is controlling him.
Tine looks winded!

Shin is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Shin throwing strikes but missing.
Shin scoring with some ground and pound.
Shin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tine swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Shin not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Shin trying to control the position from guard on top but Tine is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Shin postures up and lands a big shot to Tine's brow.

Shin advances position into side control!

Tine is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Shin cracks Tine with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Tine taking punishment in the form of punches.
Shin landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Shin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Tine keeps working.
Tine is working to avoid the ground and pound but Shin connects with a decent elbow.

Shin grinds an elbow into Tine's temple.


Tine is rocked!
Shin works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Tine is still in real trouble! Can Shin finish him?
Shin scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Tine to see if he's OK.
Tine is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Tine pushes Shin away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Shin gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Shin controls the position.
Tine on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Tine tries to escape but Shin is in control.
Shin grinds an elbow into Tine's temple.
A lull in the action here.
Shin seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Tine for as long as he can get away with.

Tine wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Shin content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Shin tries for a kimura but Tine is defending well.
Shin in side control lands a decent elbow.
Shin moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Shin advances to mount.
Shin unloading with bombs!
Tine takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Tine wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Shin scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Shin unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Tine wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Shin celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Marcus Shin!
